See From Space The World For A Majestic Satellite View Sensation

By: steve Rackers

If you have ever seen a satellite view using Google Earth or similar applications or websites you will be familiar with how impressive they are. I never forget looking at my own house as seen by a satellite in space. It was dramatic. The screen started out looking at our amazing planet earth, then just type in your zip or post code and the planet turned to our country. Then it zoomed in further and closer until we could see the roof of my house. I could take a look at the neighbours swimming pool in the backyard, parks, landmarks, nature reserves etc. It was mind blowing.

Something amazing about watching satellite images is that you get to see real photographs from anywhere on earth, The Great Pyramid, The Coloseum, canyons formed when dinosaurs roamed the earth, you name it. You can then save and share that fantastic satellite view with friends and family and add more personal information such as where you got married, or the town you first lived in.

A great feature once you have found your sight is your able to tilt and rotate the satellite image showing a birds eye perspective on buildings, mountains and landmarks on the terrain. Some people have asked me if the images are in real time and if you run around outside your house will you see yourself? The answer is no, we would need a lot of satellites out in orbit if this could happen.

The only problem you may have is that your pc might not be powerful enough to run the application or show the 3D graphics. But if your computer is quick enough you have many options to research

Manmade Landmarks
Its easy to spend unlimited time on Google Earth zooming in and out of all the earths big man made landmarks. It has become one of the most popular time killer for computer users today. Watching the Great Wall of China from the point of view of an orbiting satellite, as an example, can give you a true sense of its size. Just the fact you can see it from space and covers a good portion of the Earth.

Natural Items
You can also enjoy browsing the web for satellite images of the world's natural views. You can see many in the US alone. The rainbow-colored hot springs of Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, and the snow caps of Sierra Nevada are all astounding views, especially when shot from low flying survey planes, which provide clearer images and different sights.

Google Street View
But perhaps the most popular feature of satellite sightseeing these days is the capability to get into a streetview of almost every major city on Earth. This is Google Maps street view option, of course, this allows you to go to almost any city on the map and have a virtual tour of it. The pictures used for streetview mode have been shot from thousands of car mounted cameras across the earth that work every day to keep the streetview option as current as possible. While your searching, you will see some entertaining pictures. Everything from a freeway car crash to a man who visited a lady of the night.

You will get so much fun watching the earths pictures from Yahoo, Google and Bing although Google likely has the most extensive database of real-world images and the fastest response time for your viewing needs. What are you waiting for, get looking down on the world today.
